Pi Party 2009

Saturday night, I had the good fortune of attending the most happening Pi Party in Provo! It was hosted by apartment 314 by my beautiful and gifted friends Riz and Manda. There were pies of EVERY assortment; I tried them all.

My Two Highlights of the Night

1. Cherry Chipotle Pie - Have you guys tried that stuff?! You can see it in the picture above; it's the one in the plate the guy is holding. While eating it, I imagined it was similar to drinking burbon from a bottle! HOT, HOT, HOT!!! Hands down, the most unique pie I've ever tasted. Thanks Lundy.

2. Guitar Hero: World Tour - As the night progressed the crowd was hard pressed to find willing band members. At one point, I performed [unsuccessfully] the roles of both the lead guitar and vocalist. The song was an edited version of "Santaria" by Sublime. Confident, since I recognized from an 8th grade Spanish class back in 1996, I placed my empty water cup in my shirt pocket and rested the mic in the cup. I quickly discovered that my eyes could not follow both tracks of notes without serious consequences.

Even though I failed the song for the group, I felt pretty good about making it almost to the chorus. But I was still kicked out of the band.

    Bryan! Do you have other pictures of our party? Amanda and I are sad that we forgot to properly utilize our cameras during the event.

    Also, I was way impressed with your Guitar Hero talent.

    Thanks for the enlarge tip - that was AWESOME! What an assortment of pies. Last night Rick finished off over half a peach pie by himself since the peaches were turning.

    Oh man, that first picture was intense! Thanks for the enlargement tip. I tried something similar to the cherry chipotle the other day. It was fire and ice cake with habanero added to mint ice cream cake. yikes!

Werewolves: Variation on Mafia, the Group Game

I was first introduced to Mafia in 1995 at a Family Home Evening activity. With only 6-players in our family, we selected one Narrator, two Mafia gangsters (murder one person/night), one Detective (ask the narrator about the identity of one person/round), and sometimes we played with a Guardian Angel (who can save one person/round); everyone else were innocent citizens. THE WEREWOLVES OF MILLERS HOLLOW Review and Detailed Explanation Werewolves is essentially the same game. I played it on Monday night for an FHE activity as well. We played 2 games with 10 and 11 players respectively. Each game lasted about 10-20 minutes. IT WAS SOOO MUCH FUN! I can totally see my immediate family enjoying some of the new rules associated with Werewolves . Who's Got The Funk?

I am an amateur guitarist. I've got no funk. And I’m pretty crossed up about it. In my personal quest to discover the funk I came across this bit featuring Old Gregg from The Mighty Boosh. Old Gregg observed that some groups have it for a time, and when they do, they produce timeless hits. He identified that special  something as  The Funk ! But what exactly is The Funk ?
