Dream Journal: The Best Fun Park Ever (March 21, 2009)

Random photo downloaded from Flickr DREAM  Last night's dream was set in a classy amusement park; even better than Disney world. I didn't go on any rides but I did go to all the concerts and shows. There was a women's choir from an all girls university that was very entertaining. They performed popular music in a classical choral style. For example, they sang "Gettn' Jiggy Wit It" by Will Smith [Thanks to Heather's ringtone]. The hip-hop beats in the song were all sung a capella in harmonics--I wish you could have enjoyed it live. After the evening concert, I grabbed two girls by the hand and we visited as we wandered the park. After a while, the cuter girl on my left hand asked me when I was going to ditch the girl on my right. I asked her if she felt uncomfortable with our current situation. She denied having any problem with it but soon thereafter she made an excuse and went back to the concert hall. (I wasn't feeling any chemistry...

Bathroom Tribute to St. Patrick

What I saw in the gym toilet on Tuesday night after standing up made my eyes bulge! My stool was multi-colored. The first half [the digested food from the 17th] was green and the second half [from that day] was brown. Naturally concerned about any health issues, I googled symptoms of "Green Stools" online and came up with THIS ...AND THIS . These articles put my mind at rest. Not only does the color of food you eat affect stool color, but here's a fact I didn't know. The small intestine lines our excrement in green; the stool only becomes brown when passing through the large intestine. Dream Journal: Wait for the T-Rex (March 20, 2008)

DREAM Last night I dreamed that I was on top of a beautiful mountain. My purpose was to descend the steep face and go swimming in a lake below, all without dying. The mountain was INCREDIBLY STEEP! Instead of taking the traditional way down, I chose to travel down a natural valley by trekking a little ways further around the top. I thought my way would be safer--it wasn't. Although I made it down around the same time as the rest of the group, I nearly flayed my skin off sliding through granite shoots and then suffocated making my way through an underground briar patch. We all played in the lake at the bottom. The, for some dumb reason, I convinced myself that it would be easier to travel back up the mountain the way I came. I got about half way up before I scaled my way back over to the beaten path. I was at a stake-dance-like function with a bunch of young adults. I didn't dance most of the night; I just stood around in the middle watching others dance poorly. ...

Tuesday Nights: Yoga, Tai Chi and Country Salsa

Tuesdays are very active for me. *At 6pm I go to 24 Hour Fitness for a yoga class. *After that, I have some dinner with my dinner group and have just enough time to go up to the WILK, on campus, for Club Night. *At 7:30pm, the Tai Chi club, mainly consisting of old men, move through various styles of long and short forms and often "push hands" if there is time at the end. [Push Hands is a type of grappling game as part of the martial art.] *At 8:30pm, the first half of clubs end and the second begin. For the second half, I choose to float mainly the Country Swing Club and the Salsa Club. It's really fun. I learn so much at the Country place; they teach new line dances all the time and most of the guys know what they are doing and are willing to answer my questions. The girls are no slouches either. One girl, I think her name was Nicky, whom I had just barely met 10 seconds earlier let me "Death drop" her and pop her out into a backflip over my arm. Sal...

I Made a Final Fantasy Buster Sword.

THAT IS A BUSTER SWORD. You remember that girl who is a youth mentor with me? Well, her name is Rose and it was her birthday was on the 17th. I found out last week while we made cupcakes with our "little sister", Faith, that she is a huge fan of Final Fantasy--a Japanese made video game. I think they've come out with 12 games in the series so far. Anyway, I decided that I would give her a present, "FF-Style". I had to consult some of my gaming friends to gather some good ideas. My next door neighbor, Greg Murray, recommended that I find her an oversized-diamond; apparently diamonds have great symbolic meaning in FF. I told him that in order to avoid and confusion it would be best to stay away from diamonds. I told another friend about Rose and how she had a poster of the bad guy, Sephiroth, in her kitchen. He recommended that I build her a replica of a FF Buster Sword. Great idea! I haven't attempted an art project of this magnitude in ...

Groovy Cellphone Story, Baby

I usually NEVER have my cell volume turned up. Lately, however, I have been listening to my iPod and walking around a lot so I had my cell with me in case of an emergency with the ringer turned WAY up so that I could hear it over my headphones. Unfortunately, I was not in the habit of turning it off at night. So when Mom sent us all that text at 4am this morning, Brian told me that he was freaked out of his mind to hear Austin Power's voice proclaim, "YOU'VE GOT MAIL BABY, YEAH!" in the pitch dark of our room. Fortunately, I slept through it. The 3-5 hours of sleep that I do get each day is too precious to waste. Poor Brian. ("...it was so funny though.")

Shadow of the Giant

I have officially read every book I own, save 2. Make that three now. I just bought the final book in the Ender's Shadow Quartet [The Earth adventure branch of the Ender books]. Allow me to refresh you on the chronology: We begin the series with Ender on Earth in Ender's Game . Then we break from Ender as he goes off into Space and we Shadow Ender's experience through the life of Bean in Ender's Shadow . After the Bugger War, we return to Earth with Bean, Petra and others from Ender's Jeesh to save to world from domineering pyschopaths like Peter and Achilles in Shadow of the Hegemon , and [my favorite after Ender's Game itself] Shadow Puppets. Now, finally, O.S. Card has come out with the concluding book in the Shadow series, Shadow of the Giant . I'm only on chapter 3,as I had many distractions with St. Patrick's Day being yesterday. However, I do know that China failed in it's campaign for world domination and now is under Indio-Muslim ru...

The God of the Old Testiment

Our lesson for the third hour of church today was on Repentance. Our teacher gave a refreshing look at how God calls to his children. The painting below is called Merciful Savior by a new LDS artist,Jared Barnes Many times, especially in the OT, God comes off as a vengeful and violent Being. Ezek. 38: 22 And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. What God is really saying in these verses is that he loves us as a perfect father and is pleading with us to come back to Him. With a broken heart, he warns us of the consequences of choosing other paths. He wants for us to be happy and to find salvation through applying the Atonement. Jacob 3: 11 O my brethren, hearken unto my words; arouse the faculties of your souls; shake yourselves that ye may awake from the slumber of death; and loose yourselves from the pains of ...

Funny Images from Around the Net (March 16, 2008)

Many of you in the family have asked me about "The Cube" over the years. Dr. Suess Party

The 2nd of this March would have marked the 104th birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel , a.k.a. "Dr. Seuss". In celebration, my good, married friends, Kevin and Talyn, hosted a party filled with fun Suessy activities: -Costume awards -Green eggs and ham (that we pretended were green, but nevertheless tasty!) -Powerpoint Jeopardy--very nifty -Speed reading tongue-twisters from "Fox in Sox" -Created our own "There's a Wocket in my Pocket" picture book We had a super time together. I'm glad there were only 5 of us; any more would have been too many I think. Guess who everyone was! I will include answers in the comments box. The Closest I'll Get to Blackface. Bryan tries out his "Angry Parenting" skills. Bryan wins Jeopardy. (He studied the Wiki page just before the party.) Paul and Bryan face off in a round of "Pick out the right Dr. Seuss Book."
