This Racist Little Kid Loves his Bacon!

This clip is either from "Wife Swap" or "Trading Spouses", an reality show on ABC. Until recently, I never even knew how obsessed some people are over bacon. Moral of the story: You NEVER come between a chubby kid and his bacon. p.s. Turkey bacon is really good, AND good for you.

Sharing the Gospel: A Delicate Balance

This depiction of Heavenly Father's Plan for Man's Salvation may seem goofy and even pretentious to those of other faiths, and perhaps to some of my own faith. Still, we believe it to be true. The LDS church unabashedly proclaims itself to be "the only true and living church on the face of the earth." However, the Church also concedes that, although it does contain all the principles and ordinances essential for salvation, it does not possess everything that is true, but we welcomes it. So here is the issue. By telling others that we have the only true church, it implies that their church or system of beliefs is false. How can I boldly share the gospel with my brethren and sinners sisters of other faiths without offending them? ( God's true church was personally organized at the beginning of the age of man. When God formed Adam and Eve, he taught them personally, thus establishing the earth's first religion. Any guesses to what the second religion ...

GENDER: Olympian, Caster Semenya

Is this track star a man or a woman? Decide before you read on... Caster Semenya is a South African middle-distance runner who won the 800 m at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games. She won gold in the 800 m at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics in the final setting a new world record. Just right after the race, the rumours sprang that she is not a girl but a guy. The International Association of Athletics Federations conducted a gender verification test in the weeks before awarding Semenya the medal. Semenya states she was unconcerned about the test and rumours and considered boycotting the medal ceremony as a result. The IAAF explained that it does not suspect deliberate cheating but wants to determine if Semenya has a "rare medical condition" which gives her an unfair advantage. Gender scandals happen way more often than you’d think. Like that one time the fastest “woman” in the world was killed in a bank robbery and found to have a penis. Click Here to read m...

Socialites Without Borders

"In an effort to provide relief to a people devastated by civil war, genocide, and poverty, members of the humanitarian aid group Socialites Without Borders spent several hours this week teaching destitute Rwandans how to mingle." Click here to read the full article. This is a wonderful satire on how America helps countries in need. It may not be this bad, but some of the programs instituted by American NPOs are pretty ridiculous. When you try to take a successful American model and transplant it into a completely foreign culture, failure happens. That is one of the reasons I'd like to work internationally, specifically in Latin America, when I finish my graduate work in Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences. I'd like to develop and implement systems of education and growth that are tested and work in unique societies.

The IT&LS Ropes Course Team Building Excercises

My second day of orientation found me at the mouth of a windy canyon at 8 o'clock in the morning. Our 30-person cohort was invited to participate in a university-run ropes course. Only 16 people came, including 3 faculty members. And let me tell YOU, the other half truly missed out! Metaphoric Challenges Challenge #1 : Pass the Ball. Activity purpose : Participants stand in a circle and toss a series of tennis balls across the circle to each other. See how many balls we can keep in the air. Possible Solutions : Every other person tosses high. Look at the person throwing the ball to you. The farther you stand apart, the longer the ball can be in the air and not in your hand. Cross-over lessons for school : Communication is paramount to progression. One idea acts as a springboard for another. Therefore, even if what you have to say isn't perfect, it may serve as a catalyst for another "game-changing" idea. Challenge #2 : Fast Ball Purpose : Move on...

Each Pic Relates to My Life

This picture is in tribute to the Chuck Norris posters I put up in the living room of my new, Logan apartment. We are waiting for a 42", Plasma tv to be shipped here and replace the posters. But for the meantime, we get to sit on the couch already situated across the room and sit and stare at Chuck... Don't worry. Él Pepe, the new Honda, is fine. He's only collected a couple of paint chips. Two months ago, I "transcended" Tony Horton's P90X program. The truth is, when I was forced to take a two week break after injuring my leg playing volleyball, I decided that I felt better when I didn't work out with Tony than when I did. I got into karate for my final two weeks in Provo, which re-emphisized the importance of living a balanced life. Then again, there is something to be said for the adage, "No Pain, No Gain." Now that I've quit my workout regimen, I need to fill it with something. Intermural Tennis starts this week, but I do...

Where Should I Put My Shoes?

Unlike many of you, home owners, who have closets larger than a wiffle ball bat, I have no place for my 10 pair of shoes (including sandals/Chacos®.) I've been forced to get creative during my stay in my last few apartments. Here are a couple of methods I've tried: Under the bed in rows. Build my own two-tier shelf for the floor of my closet. Wear flip-flops every, single, day. Organizer that hangs from the door. Here is one option that I have not yet tried. It requires a bed skirts. Click Here. "Hidden shoes away organizer neatly stores and protects your favorite shoes under the bed. Discover hidden storage potential without taking up valuable space under the bed. Tuck between mattress and boxspring – organizer stays out of sight under dust ruffle or bedspread. Features 16 roomy pockets for shoes, scarves, books, belts, toys and more. Adjustable to fit twin to king size bed." Next time I get a spare $20, I might just invest.
