This is a wonderful satire on how America helps countries in need. It may not be this bad, but some of the programs instituted by American NPOs are pretty ridiculous. When you try to take a successful American model and transplant it into a completely foreign culture, failure happens.
That is one of the reasons I'd like to work internationally, specifically in Latin America, when I finish my graduate work in Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences. I'd like to develop and implement systems of education and growth that are tested and work in unique societies.
There's a lot of things we need to understand better, that's for sure, before we assign our needs and our priorities to other cultures!
