2008 Halloween Costume Party

As you may be able to tell from some of the costumes, this was a non-BYU approved dance. It was a tri-complex dance hosted, in part, by Carriage Cove. (I tried to only take pictures of the G-rated costumes.) There really weren't that many questionable ones. 10 points to the person who can name each character in this picture! I'll give you a hint. This first guy is Superman. That one is tricky since Shawn doesn't match the character's body type. But you should be able to get the rest. (#2 was featured in my blog not too long ago...) This is Satoshi in the middle. He is from Japan.

Funny Images from Around the Net — People & Pumpkins Pics

1. Super cool haircut! He definitely would have wielded a battle ax had he been born in a Germanic hoard of the 11th century. 2. The pumpkin that I judged Noelle's Predator against. (This one is better.) 3. Very cool garden pumpkin 4. This is unbelievable. It's like Waterworld with Kevin Costner. 5. Largest Stick Bug in the WORLD!!! Yes, this thing is for real.

Stef's Seminary Ten-Minute Teaching Experience

What an honor it was to be a visitor for Stefanie's seminary teaching experience Wednesday morning! She taught first followed by two other boys: a tall, skinny Peter-Priesthood named Mark and a BYU student who needs no introduction, Jan Jorgenson—The Cougar's star linebacker. Stef taught first. Her scripture block included the missionary favorite, Gal. 3:22-23 focusing on gifts of the Spirit. She did so well. She was the best at soliciting examples and personal stories from the class. She also did a magnificent job bring the Spirit into the lesson through sharing her testimony. One thing I thought she could work on for next time is to make it less like a testimony meeting and more learner focused by planning some analysis and application questions. (Remember the SAA pattern: Search, Analyze, Apply) That way the learners will know what to do with the scriptural principles we just discovered. (That's the hardest part for me too.) Mark did a good job in reminding ...

Happy Birthday Mom 2008

Happy Birthday MOM! I love you and appreciate what you've done for me through the years. I have always thought it was cool that you took such an active interest in getting me the best education possible. I remember when you would make energetic calls/visits to my junior/high school class counselors to lobby for the best schedules. I don't think any other mother on Education Hill was as invested in her kids education, bar Lisa Tracy (but she doesn't count). I love you Mom. Happy Birthday. TRIBUTE A Mother's Teachings - A Parody 1. My Mother taught me about ANTICIPATION… “Just wait until Dad gets home.” 2. Answer me when I talk to you. . .Don’t talk back to me!” 4. My Mother taught me LOGIC… “If you fall out of that tree and break your neck, your not going to the Science Center with us.” 5. My Mothe...
