God's Fireworks @ Buffalo Peak

These are pictures from our latest hike up Buffalo Peak. BP is the peak just behind Squaw Peak but before the giant Cascade mountain that has snow ridges into late Spring. This is what was going on between taking pictures--Swatting at mosquitoes! This photo was photoshopped. Notice how Jolene is the same in this picture as the one below? Chen had a grasshopper jump on him at the beginning of the hike. He thought it jumped off, but it actually rode him all the way up the mtn., back down and all the way home. Now he keeps it in a clear, plastic cup on our kitchen table. ---------------- Listening to: B-Tan - Long Ride (ver 2)

Dream Update---When we all found $100 million

$ $(As time goes by...$10,000 becomes: $ There were five or six of us--members of some group, not close friends, but still all connected somehow. Under the camouflage of night, we scattered into the dark, empty street with $100 million EACH, or at least as many bundles of $10,000 bill as we could carry. One girl ducked into a street-level motel across the street and stuffed her the loot into a previously prepared hole in the wall. I looked across the street in the other direction and say two other companions step into a cab. I looked down into my two open duffel bags overflowing with cash. Almost without hesitation, I tipped open a giant city dumpster in front of me and began pouring the money into it. My actions drew the attention of everyone else in the group that was still around. Within moments, I was restrained by four, strong arms and wrestled to the rough asphalt. Three faces stared down at mine from above me. "If you don't want your money, just buy an obscure mans...

Dream Journal: The Sneaky Cobra (July 3, 2008)

In last night's dream I was filthy rich. But tonight, I was back home, living with my parents. Mom and Dad and I were at the Redmond house and somehow a talking, baby cobra had convinced us that it would make a good pet. We wearily allowed it stay for the afternoon. By the evening, we were too nervous having it around where we might accidentally step on it, so we put it out on the porch. It tried to do Cah's hypnosis-thing on us so that we would trust it again enough to let it back inside—but we successfully resisted. The moment we turned our backs, however, the Cobra somehow managed to creep its way back into the house! I noticed that the bottom inch of the screen door was crooked and allowed just enough room for a persistent creature to slither its way through. Surprisingly, the cobra sat patiently through our entire investigation. "Seeeee. I told you, you could trust me," he said.  Our trust in the snake increased ever so slightly.  We let it stay becau...

The Alchemist

I went to Barnes & Noble with my two newest friends, Amanda and Liz--two really smart girls who like to be kids. They used me as an excuse to go to the bookstore, since I needed to buy my own copy of Les Mis. While we were there, they insisted that I buy the Alchemist. As they already knew about my "life journey" situation, they thought it would be beneficial for me--and it was! I talked them down into letting me just borrow it for the day instead of buying my own copy. It was terrific. A lot of great life lesson: (Life lessons to follow, when I'm not going to FHE for the first time since I started my EMT class.) Love, Bryan

Les Miserables--Only 1392 pages to go!

This is the best book I've ever read! It's mentally stimulating--the same way Ender's Game was, just not for 13-year-old boys! I really enjoy reading Les Miserables. I feel good when I read VH's ideas on morality and discipleship. It's been a slow read; I'm only on pg. 102. Often, I pause to write in my journal and look up words I don't know. Thanks Mom for getting me started. ---------------- Listening to: Kurt Bestor - I Know That My Redeemer Lives
