Bryan, the Equestrian Rockstar

USU Western Style Equestrian Team tryout were today. I totally showed up. And I signed a waiver. And I rode. And I didn't fall off. Yep. I'm pretty proud of myself. Everybody thought I was legit because I had horses on my pearl-button shirt. A fellow cowboy even offered me some Kodiak chew. Of course, I politely declined; now, had it been Skol, it would have been a different story :) Here's some background info on the team . They meet once a week to ride and feed the horses. They tour Idaho and Montana, competing 10 times, in an effort to defend their undefeated regional championship status. Many of the riders on the team place nationally, both in Western-style and English-styles. I tried out for three, specific reasons : 1. I considered my tryout an initiation to becoming a full-fledged member of the Logan community. 2. I thought it would a great way to meet new people in the area. 3. I wanted to face my fears regarding horseback riding. Ou...

God's Grace and the Kitchen Sink

I wonder at profundity of God's divine grace. The following experience has verified to me that no trouble is too insignificant for God's attention, as long as it is important to his children. Heavenly Father and I have a great track record for prayers answered. In fact, God has never failed to answer any prayer I have offered him throughout my entire life. Typically, I don't ask for much. And when I do ask him for things, I first run the request through my "stupid question filter." I ask myself, is this in accordance with what I already know about God's will for me? If the answer is yes, I proceed. If the answer is no, I either reword the question until the answer would be "yes" or just forget about the whole thing. Sometimes, the filter permits stupid questions to float through. But in those situations, God trusts me to accept his negative or "still not yet" responses. Enough background information. This story's beginnin...

Carriage Cove NINJAS!

Prepare yourselves! You are about to witness never before seen photos of real-life ninjas! Again, this is a collection of unaltered photos of ninjas-in-the-wild. Most people pass by similar specimens every day without even noticing. However, thanks to a trained ninja-photographer, who studied the art of ninja stealth for the last decade in Japan], we will finally be able to see some of the closest shots of these reverenced creatures ever captured. The photographer sacrificed her life for that last photo.

The Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple Open House in South Jordan, Utah

I think these pictures were taken back in July. I loved walking through this temple . The focus in this temple was the sealing rooms. They also featured progressive, muraled endowment rooms. I remember how quickly they were able to move us through. The folks who were in charge of operations have learned a lot since the Draper Temple Open House only a few months ago. This photo below is of the friends from Carriage Cove who invited me to go with them. We enjoyed being together and even went back to Tom Whipple's parents new house, located just a few blocks away from the temple, for a BBQ afterward. I really had a great time. p.s. I hate low-res, grainy pics borrowed from facebook.

Funny Images from Around the Web (August 31, 2009)

These pictures may or may not have any connection with real life. Just enjoy. Elementary school logic at work... What is the literary term for personifying inanimate objects? More awkward family photos. (I hope I don't look that nerdy.) Funny thing is, I do know of a family that is taking karate lessons; the dad is a doctor, but he doesn't want anyone in the class to find out about it.) Matt, my roommate, hates sushi. But he loves California Rolls [crab, avocado, rice, sauce, sometimes-seaweed.] Does that count as "authentic sushi?" Jesus' face is in the chicken. (Found late one night while watching infomercials.)

Meet the USU Roomies

These are canned, candid photos of my new roommates in our Oakridge apartment in Logan, UT. Matthew Jones is from Bountiful, UT. He served a mission in the D.Republic. Matt is studying stuff and loved to wake-board on his family's boat before he tore his ACL. This is me eating Matthew's chips and cheese from Chili's. Both Matthew and I really like chips and cheese. This is Shane Boehme from Bear Lake, ID. He speaks Spanish too, is studying exercise science and fights fires on the weekends. This is Scott Hadley from Kaysville, UT; he's the funny man of the apartment. He's a grad student studying exercise science. Scott is mad about the Yankees and hates the new X-men Origins: Wolverine Movie. BTW, this picture makes him look really white and wimpy. He's actually a muscle-bound stud.
