No one I asked wanted to go to the BYU women's Tennis match today at 3pm against USU. They all thought it would be too boring. One guy was like, "Tennis makes me dizzy; all I do is try to watch to ball go back and forth over the net, and a lot of the time, I lose track of it anyway." Well, all I could say to that was, "I guess Tennis isn't for everyone."
Here are TOP 5 reasons why I appreciate watching women's tennis:
5. They give away free tennis merchandise (like tennis shorts) throughout the match to the handful of fans that attend.
4. There is typically FREE pizza and donuts served at all the matches.
3. The caliber of play is high for both the men's and women's teams. (Unlike College basketball, where it is actually painful for me to sit through a women's basketball game.) It is exciting to watch players who perform at a level that is higher than I could compete at.
2. I feel like a contributing member of the BYU student body (even though I've graduated) by supporting BYU athletics. While most fans turn out for the BYU football and basketball games, I show up for the tennis and volleyball matches.
1. Women's Tennis players are HOT. (Fit, college-age girls + proficiency in a skill = Hot)
***Added bonuses for why I like tennis:
*You can play it into your old age.
*It's intense.
*It requires mental toughness. The minute your mind is out of the game is the moment your opponent takes control of the match.
*One-handed backhands
*When you win a singles match, you feel like your skill has been tested on the "field of battle" and you have not been found wanting.
*Tennis is the only sport in which I can get worked up enough to want to cry (win or lose.) It's refreshing to feel that passionately about something.
I would go with you Bry! I don't think I've ever been to a college tennis match. sounds fun though, and I"m up for the free pizza and moichendise. :)
ReplyDeleteI once tried playing tennis. I was really bad. The person I played with ended up playing against the wall! I'm also pretty bad at wii tennis. Although I would like to be better. Maybe I need to take a tennis class....
ReplyDeleteDo I count as a contributing member if I go to hockey games?
ReplyDeleteI would totally go to a tennis match . . . as long as I didn't have to take my children. I really want to get my serve back and play once I've had bebe numero quatro.
ReplyDeleteGuess I'll have to start going to tennis matches...actually I went to 2 last year...but one of them didn't have free pizza. I was extremely disappointed :(
ReplyDeleteI like those and I'd attend Mens Basketball and Gymnastics. So do you pay each time, just show up or have a season pass to games? Sorry I didn't see these- I check and they aren't there until one day, all at once!!!
