Biblion: The Boundless Encyclopedia
Free
The word "biblion" was used in the Middle Ages to describe collections made from fragments of ancient texts. As such, it’s appropriate that the New York Public Library’s iPad app, which draws from tens of thousands of fragments scattered across hundreds of boxes of materials, bears the moniker. The smartly designed and informative app focuses on the 1939-40 World's Fair, but even non-enthusiasts can appreciate the history presented. Here’s hoping for a broader topic range in the near future.

These were some really good apps in 2011 and I know some of them are still going to be in 2012. One app that has carried over to 2012 and has added more to it and I absolutely love is the DISH Remote Access app through DISH. With that app I can access all my subscription channels and watch live TV with the Sling Adapter hooked up. A co-worker at DISH told me I could also stream my Blockbuster@Home service on my iPad, which will be cool to do. The kids would love to be able to select from thousands of movies while we are on the road. That is the new feature and I am happy they added it.
