University of Florida student Andrew Meyer was tasered and arrested after causing a disturbance at a town hall forum, which featured Senator John Kerry, at the UF Auditorium on Sept. 17, 2007.
Meyer claimed he simply wanted answers to his questions, but his true purpose was clear—he wanted to get tasered:
- He brought a camera to capture "what would happen".
- He had friend film it for him.
- He was clearly there to be heard and not to hear.
- He disobeyed forum rules and would not sit down when directed.
- He talked to the crowd.
- He made statements like "Is anybody watching this?"
- He wouldn't listen to the officers' instructions.
- He tried to make his way back to Senator Kerry's stage waving his arms like a wild man.
- He coaxed the arresting officers into going through with their threat of tasing him using verbal, reverse psychology.
- He screamed over-dramatically after being tased to make a show of it.
Watch the video to see how he provokes one of the arresting officers when he says, "Don't tase me, Bro! Don't tase me!" He's totally asking for it! It reminds me of when I had to be disciplined by my dad and I insisted that he spank me because "it felt good". That's about the exact same time when I stopped receiving spankings.
My dad was obviously smarter than these arresting officers who were later sued for using excessive force. (Seriously, there were at least four of you on top of him. Don't they teach you submission holds at the police academy that you could have easily employed instead of giving in to his childish wishes?)
