Bryan's 2013 Indie TV Picks

Bravest Warriors (#Animated #Web) What's it about:  Bravest Warriors is like a mashup of  Adventure Time  and  Slugterra .  This futuristic, animated web series follows four teens who employ the power of their emotions to save the universe, whilst searching for their dimensionally-displaced parents.  The first 10-episode season is available online.   Episode one begins here : My Impressions:  If you are looking for a childish, 10-minute escape from the mundane, I highly recommend checking out Bravest Warriors; you can watch the entire season in under 2 hours.  Thanks to the overly-active imagination of  Pendleton Ward , this YouTube-exclusive show gushes with creativity.  FYI, CatBug is my new favorite animated character of all-time.  You may find an image of him in episode 10 or next to the word "cute" in the dictionary. Freedom Must Be Actively Sought: A Need to Return to Values

We Have Forgotten Our Past  "We forget how the Greeks and Romans prevailed magnificently in a barbaric world and how that triumph ended--how a slackness and softness finally overcame them to their ruin. In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security and a comfortable life; and they lost all--comfort and security and freedom." The World Needs Pioneers Today By President Thomas S. Monson, LDS Church Ensign, July 2013 Must we learn such costly lessons over and over again?  Times change, but truth persists. As we witness our friends being caught up in the tsunami of popular opinion, we must have the courage and steadfastness of purpose to follow Him who knows the beginning from the end—Jesus Christ. We Must Become Modern-day Pioneers for Time-honored Values While nearly impossible to measure, I believe that living essential values are paramount to the success of any community. It is also my opinion that we, as a global family, are trending ...

Break Up 101: How to End a Relationship With Class

Disclaimer: I wrote this as if I were speaking to myself. If you can transfer anything from it, I'm glad. Should I Break Up? Break-ups should never be taken lightly. It's rare to find someone you genuinely care for, and who cares for you too. It's natural to not want to give up on something that is good in so many ways. Up to this point, you may have only experienced a "gut feeling" that you need to break up. This feeling to move on may be the result of a conscious or subconscious recognition that your relationship and your respective dreams are no longer compatible. What do I mean by this? Dreams are a part of the story you tell yourself that describes what life should be like; they are the engine of your core self — your expectations, your perceptions, your assumptions, your thoughts and feelings about life (including thoughts and feelings about those around you). Before breaking up, it's important to assess whether or not your reality still aligns wit...

How to Become a Volleyball Expert

The Secret to Success is a Proactive Defense When you're playing defense, many players think that how they handle the hard drives and how they pass are the most important things. Yes, those are critical skills, but more important is to  make sure you are in the right place at the right time.  A  lot of players are so concerned with their form, they end up just standing there with "stone feet" and not moving anywhere.   You don't need to worry about passing the ball if you are not getting there in the first place! Follow these tips to make sure you are playing defense at the highest level possible.  1. Get in proper defensive stance -  You will find it hard to move to the right place if you are standing incorrectly. You should have your knees bent, on your toes, keeping your arms relaxed and in front of you. There is nothing that drives a coach more crazy than to see a player playing defense standing straight up with their knees locked. The bottom lin...
