Bravest Warriors (#Animated #Web)
What's it about: Bravest Warriors is like a mashup of Adventure Time and Slugterra. This futuristic, animated web series follows four teens who employ the power of their emotions to save the universe, whilst searching for their dimensionally-displaced parents. The first 10-episode season is available online. Episode one begins here:My Impressions: If you are looking for a childish, 10-minute escape from the mundane, I highly recommend checking out Bravest Warriors; you can watch the entire season in under 2 hours. Thanks to the overly-active imagination of Pendleton Ward, this YouTube-exclusive show gushes with creativity. FYI, CatBug is my new favorite animated character of all-time. You may find an image of him in episode 10 or next to the word "cute" in the dictionary.
Video Game High School (#YouTube #Gamers)
What's it about: "The story is about a down on his luck, young aspiring gamer. He has no friends. His cat hates him. His name is Brian. He loves playing video games. One day during a public match the number one gamer the "Law" arrives to do a little bit of showing off. Out of no where Brian manages to kill the "Law". It's like the shot heard around the world. Because of it and all the hype Brian gets invited to Video Game High School. It's about a kid and all the troubles of high school but in a very different way. It's a competitive gaming school. While attending VGHS Brian tries to make it to his dream of playing at the highest level of gaming. Along the way he develops a crush on Jenny Matrix, the JV FPS Captain." (Written by Tommy Whitehall.) Free on their website or YouTube.
My Impressions: This production is everything you wish you're high school video production class could have been (back in the day when the most-advanced graphics card could only process 8-bit). The show's story, characters, and script are naturally juvenile, but the creative use of graphics are cutting edge regardless of who you are.
Infinite Issues (#Kickstarter #Funded #Roleplaying #Nerd)
What's it about: Infinite Issues is a comedic web series following the misadventures of comic shop clerk Becca and the eccentric regulars under her watch (via Kickstarter).First Impressions: Low-budget, niche film. Looks like a comedic winner for those who appreciate comic culture, witty sarcasm, and uber-nerdiness*.
*Role-playing nerds only.
The Record Keeper (#Web #Sci-fi)
What's it about: Produced by the Seventh Day Adventist Church, the story revolves around an angel, working for Heaven's administration, who attempts to record the events of mankind's history without becoming personally involved (via IMDB).
First Impressions: This show is low budget. It might be horrendous. But it might actually be quite good. We'll just have to watch and see.
