Against my better judgment, I went to the dollar theater to see Mamma Mia with some girl friends.
I felt like my manhood shriveled up within the first 10 minutes of the show. EVERYTHING was catered to "girl-humor". The female characters on screen would make fun of themselves (in a way that only other women would find funny) and then they would make fun of the men in the same way. I was falling deeper and deeper into a cyclone of estrogen.
There was one redeeming part during the movie. The first was during the song, "Dancing Queen". Up until that point, the theater sound had been cutting in and out. When Meryl Streep started singing though, the entire room filled with music. I could hear sound emitting from 200 speakers in addition to the ones mounted on the walls. EVERY SINGLE WOMAN IN THAT THEATER WAS SINGING ALONE WITH HER! Even the 80-year-old woman on my right was bouncing and swaying in her seat. (She had a surprisingly lucid voice.) From then on, any time I needed motivation to keep me from walking out, I would just turn to look at my enthusiastic neighbor on my right and I would sit back and smile.

Can NOT believe you went to see that! Wow. So glad we got to hear the report about the joint singing, though.
