Saturday, the 28th, I organized a "ward" ballroom dancing trip up to the Murray Art Center.
In anticipation of many who were not familiar with ballroom, I set up a Wednesday night practice/instruction. We met on our communal patio at 9pm under some flood lights. The conditions were perfect. We had two BYU Ballroom Tour Team members teach the Hustle and the Waltz. It was an amazing success for all 7 of the brave ward members who came out.
Saturday night, we only had 5 ward members show. Still we had a great time. Fortunately, Christoffer, who teaches dance at BYU invited his whole class and some of his other experienced dancing friends so we ended up with about 20 of us.
It was the smallest group I've ever gone with but it was nice to get to know EVERYONE who came.
Stefanie and Phung (from Vietnam and a new member of the church) rode with me. Phung was so nice to pay me $5 in quarters to help out with gas. I told him that he didn't have to since gas had become SOOOOO cheap (i.e. $3.50/gal.) But he insisted with the condition that he could borrow my crockpot whenever I wasn't using it.

It's always good to insert conditions. That was thoughtful of him to help pay for gas (and with quarters.) I miss ballroom dancing, i'll be honest.
ReplyDeleteWay to be an organizer. That's often the only way we have any social life out here in the great OH-IO.
