I spared for the first time ever last Tuesday night. After Tai Chi club was over, I asked the master, a man in sweatpants named Art, to teach me more about an exercise I saw him doing some weeks ago with an advanced student called Push Hands.
He took about 15 minutes and gave me some basic instruction including philosophy, technique, and a memorized form. I felt really cool.
We were practicing in the garden court in the WILK so everyone passing by the glass windows would stop and stare in amazement.
Art would encourage me to relax and rotate from the hips by reciting classic anecdotes like, "Seek not to contend" and "a supple willow contends not against the storm, yet it survives."
