Mom and Dad's WOK



What an amazing piece of cookware!

I was introduced to this particular WOK a couple of weeks ago when Christina Johnson Duke invited me over for a couples date. I know I've already blogged about that but I didn't get to show you the EVIDENCE. Christina and Matt cooked the Panda Express
Chicken in the Wok while my date and I made the sauces. Matt was especially excited to show me how the bater magically enveloped the chicken when it cooked in the hot oil. Honestly, it was pretty astonishing--he just rolled the chicken in the bater a little and then let the WOK do its work.

While we cooked, Christina told me about how the WOK was a gift from my parents when they visited our house up in Redmond when they were married last year. She also shared with us the story of how they were nervous about carrying on such a large, metal item to the plane. They were sure that some metal detector somewhere would be tripped and they would have to leave it behind in WA.

Fortunately for them, and us, the WOK made it all the way to Pason, UT and Panda Express recipes have almost become a staple for the Duke family. Thanks Mom and Dad!

Werewolves: Variation on Mafia, the Group Game

I was first introduced to Mafia in 1995 at a Family Home Evening activity. With only 6-players in our family, we selected one Narrator, two Mafia gangsters (murder one person/night), one Detective (ask the narrator about the identity of one person/round), and sometimes we played with a Guardian Angel (who can save one person/round); everyone else were innocent citizens. THE WEREWOLVES OF MILLERS HOLLOW Review and Detailed Explanation Werewolves is essentially the same game. I played it on Monday night for an FHE activity as well. Who's Got The Funk?

I am an amateur guitarist. I've got no funk. And I’m pretty crossed up about it. In my personal quest to discover the funk I came across this bit featuring Old Gregg from The Mighty Boosh. Old Gregg observed that some groups have it for a time, and when they do, they produce timeless hits. He identified that special  something as  The Funk ! But what exactly is The Funk ?
