Blogspot, You're Getting a Baby Brother :)

Image  Source It was really great seeing so many friends while I was waiting in Utah Valley for my Brazilian visa to arrive. As I visited, it was interesting to me that almost every conversation eventually included a recollection of this blog. We joked about how I would wake up at odd hours and blog the rest of the day away, sometimes posting 3-5 (less personal) entries a day. As soon as grad school started up, however, I simply couldn't maintain that pace. So I quit, cold-turkey. In hind-sight, I should have kept Tuesdays With Muerte alive. Posting once or twice a week wouldn't have been too difficult. But then, I never was one for staying "just friends." Well, a year has gone by and I've finished school...again. Naturally, I reminisced about old-times and considered the option of looking up the old "girlfriend" [blog]. I had to admit, that I still had feelings for her. However, I knew that if I were to take her back, there would need ...

Temporarily shutting down the blog...

I not quitting as a blogger. I just don't think this blog is useful; it's become diluted with meaningless internet memes and GIFs and I don't feel like I'm meaningfully reflecting on my life like I used to do. Writing in this space used to be my way to update my family on my activities and current interests. Recently, it's just become like every other unoriginal blog, endlessly recycling pictures of cats. My priorities have shifted. I'm back in school now and I am spending my time differently these days. I'm planning to split my current blog. I'll share my personal stuff on the blog I dedicate to my personal life and then create a business blog for networking purposes (and maybe one for jokes I find on the net). If you're reading this, I assume you do enjoy reading my blog. Sorry. Take comfort knowing that it was only getting worse.  Hopefully, by diversifying, you can choose to just follow the things you're interested in. Soooo, this...

Who Invented the "Gatorade Shower"?

Image  Source Last night, while I was watching the Rose Bowl the commentators were discussing how cold it was outside there in Pasadena, CA. Just then, Alabama football players drenched their coach, Nick Saban, with a cooler full of Gatorade. CRUEL! Who started that nasty tradition?  They never did anything like that in Rudy!  Winning players and coaches were hoisted up on players' shoulders and paraded off the field. MentalFloss has provided THE ANSWERS to many burning questions surrounding this relatively new tradition.

50 things we learned in 2009

Image  Source We may have known some of them, but we didn’t know that we knew them. 1. Domestic pigs can quickly learn how mirrors work and use them to find food. 2. Grumpy people think more clearly because negative moods trigger more attentive, careful thinking. 3. High cholesterol levels in midlife are associated with an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia later in life. 4. Analysis of Greenland ice samples shows Europe froze solid in less than 12 months 12,800 years ago, partly due to a slowdown of the Gulf Stream. Once triggered, the cold persisted for 1,300 years. 5. One mutated gene is the reason humans have language, and chimpanzees, our closest relative, do not. 6. Obesity in teenage girls may increase their risk of later developing multiple sclerosis. 7. A fossil skeleton of an Aardonyx celestae dinosaur discovered in South Africa appears to be the missing link between the earliest dinosaurs that walked on two legs and the larg...
